Tunisian giants Club Africain are finalizing a major surprise tribute for star defender Yassine Meriah following his sudden decision to step away from professional football due to ongoing injury struggles.
The 32-year-old Tunisian international defender announced his retirement after a lingering series of physical setbacks hampered his ability to compete at the highest level. In response to his service and leadership, Club Africain’s executive board—led in coordination with head coach Maher Kanzari—is organizing a comprehensive farewell celebration alongside a long-term administrative proposal.
Reports from Tunis indicate that the club plans to offer Meriah an official ambassadorial or technical management role within Club Africain’s organizational hierarchy, ensuring his experience remains integrated into the squad’s ecosystem. Additionally, a special testimonial event and stadium tribute at the Stade Olympique de Radès are being planned ahead of their upcoming domestic fixture to honor Meriah’s career, which includes 95 caps for the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
